February/March 2021 – Reflection

Welcome to this year’s 365 photo today challenge. You can check out this link if you care to join. It is a great group!

This is ‘self-portrait week’ where we are encouraged to get in front of the camera. I struggle with this every month, but in theory it is a good exercise. This week we are focusing on our reflections.

So here we go!

February 28 – Reflection:  I have an old (not quite antique) dresser mirror. I love the shape of it. I tried to get a bit of my bedroom window in the shot as well. I like the low light and the black & white treatment.

March 1 – Delight:  There was a lot to get into a photo. Self-portrait -check; Where I Stand – check; Reflection – check; and finally Delight – check! I am in my backyard assessing the annual spring flooding of our creek. Our little stream is a great source of delight. It entertains us all year long.

March 2 – Button:  I have an extensive collection of buttons that I keep in an old ‘Quality Street’ candy tin. I am looking for just a few special buttons for a project that I am working on. In keeping with the reflection theme of the week, you can see a slight reflection of my hand on the table.

March 3 – Exhilaration:  I awoke to beautiful sunshine & a wicked wind. Though it looked very nice outside, it was -13C (8F), and the wind chill factor made it feel like -21C (-5F). Brrr! I thought that the wind would be whipping up the water at the beach, so I bundled up and headed out. It was exhilarating, to say the least; I had to lean against the car to snap a few shots. Thankfully I managed one with a splash. Sorry, no reflection or self-portrait today. I hurried home for a well-deserved cup of tea to warm me up!

March 4 – Street:  This is a view of the main road that runs in front of our home and the street sign at the end of my street. It reflects the fact that there is a ‘gun club’ at the end of the road. We often hear them practicing.

March 5 – Positive:  It has been a challenge to stay positive over the past year. I make sure to go outside for a walk every day to be in the fresh air, enjoy Mother Nature, and get some exercise. I take the time to reflect and appreciate all that I have. Today was cold again, -4C (25F), but it feels like -12C (12F). I only managed a quick walk on the sunny side of Main Street. You can see my reflection in this cheerfully decorated spring window. I’m feeling more positive already!

March 6 – Hobby:  This was pretty easy; besides my photography interest, I am a quilter. I love everything about it; the fabric & all the colours, the process, the creativity. You can see me here working on a test block for a new commission!

Next week is Picture Style week, with a theme of ‘street photography.’ I think I’m up for the challenge! Stay tuned.

Thank you for visiting. Continue to stay safe and stay well!

Connie 🙂
