‘Receding’ Table Runner

Today’s adventure is in my quilting room.

I have been working on quilting a queen-sized quilt, but a part broke on my big sewing machine. I have ordered a replacement with an estimated time of arrival over six months! Due to the current global pandemic, the piece is not available in North America for the foreseeable future, and the estimated cost has quadrupled in price. Sigh.

Thankfully I have another small sewing machine to use in the meantime, but the queen-size quilt will have to wait. Perhaps I will hand quilt that one; we shall see.

When we finished our kitchen renovation, I moved an old server into the kitchen and set it up as a coffee station. It needed a little something to dress it up a bit. The solution was a table runner.

This project is a relatively easy pattern where the squares and rectangles appear to float above the background. It is called ‘Receding‘ and finishes at 42″ x 17″. I used fabric from a collection called ‘Elemental Illusions‘ in blacks, greys & taupe. I used a heat-resistant batting and machine quilted it in a simple pattern.

The pattern went together like a puzzle. I am delighted with the finished runner!

Thank you for visiting.

  1. Love the table runner! 🙂
I have projects on hold, too, as I have now been waiting 3 months for a part for my sewing machine. Who knows when I shall have her back home again!? I am thankful that I have a small machine to handle small projects!
