Let’s do 52 – Third Quarter

I am participating in a 52 Week Project with Carolyn (@sixteenmilesout). The project is simple: a list of prompts is provided for the entire year, giving me a week to take a photo for each prompt.

Welcome to the Summer quarter of 2024

July 2024

Minimal | Picnic | Framed | In my Zip Code

Soon, the wheat will be ready for harvest. Until then, we can enjoy the endless expanses of gold with tractor tracks creating a leading line to the tree in the middle of the field.

What do you do when planning a picnic and a thunderstorm rages outside? You have a Teddy Bear picnic inside, of course! We are all set up on our quilt on the living room floor, just waiting for the tea to steep. So much fun!

This beautiful scene is naturally framed by the trees on either side, with leaves and a rail fence. The soft golden light from the sunrise highlights the tall grass and even the spider webs among them.

This is our local sunflower field. I always look forward to this time of year when they open it to the public. They have created a wonderful meandering trail that allows you to walk among the flowers and provides interesting viewpoints for photography enthusiasts.

August 2024

Macro | In a Pot | A Stack | Where I Live

I saw this unusual iris (iris domestica) in a local garden. I love how the spent flowers twist themselves up!

My red prayer plant (Maranta leuconeura) thrives in its new pot. I repotted it in a beautiful, spacious container, providing ample room for its roots to grow.

While strolling along the shore, I stumbled upon an inuksuk, a cleverly stacked arrangement of rocks! How amazing!

inukshuk | iˈno͝okˌSHo͝ok | (also inuksuk)
noun: (plural inukshuks or plural inuksuit | iˈno͝okˌSHo͞oit |)

  • a structure of rough stones stacked in the form of a human figure, traditionally used by Inuit people as a landmark or a commemorative sign: the figure of the inukshuk is omnipresent in Inuit tradition.

I watched the mist rising from the farmer’s field behind my yard this morning. This is the view from my back fence, with autumn colours beginning to show.

September 2024

Books | Tea Time | On the Table | Rows | Faceless Portrait

This is one of the bookstores I frequently visit. I am an avid reader but need more room for new books. Luckily, the public library comes to the rescue. I always have one or two books on the go.

I love having a nice cup of herbal tea in the afternoon while spending quality time with a good book. Today, I am enjoying a cup of ginger turmeric tea with a bit of honey in one of my fancy teacups.

I rearranged the side tables in my living room and moved my Pothos closer to the window. It seems to be thriving in its new spot, don’t you think?

Rows and rows of corn are almost ready for the harvest.

The weather was perfect to sit in the shade with a good book!

It is hard to believe that we are now in the last quarter of the year! Stay tuned and thank you for visiting!

  1. Wonderful series Connie. Especially loved the sunflowers, the prayer plant and your pothos, but especially especially loved the inuksuk which I hadn’t heard of before. 🙂 In all a fabulous collection for this Summer quarter.
